Registration
Apply online through the Wingu website. Share your child’s Grade 10 report and current subject list. An admissions consultant confirms enrolment within one business day and sets up platform access before the term starts.
Yes. We need the Grade 10 report and the subject list from the previous school to confirm the elective combination transfers correctly. Where there is any mismatch, the admissions team will advise on bridging options.
Curriculum
Subject changes in Grade 11 are strongly discouraged because SBA marks already accumulated in Grade 10 may not transfer cleanly, and the subject content in Grade 11 builds directly on Grade 10. If a change is genuinely necessary, discuss it with the Student Success Advisor as early as possible.
Grade 11 SBAs are formally weighted and contribute to the promotion mark used to qualify for Grade 12. The pattern of assessments — tests, assignments, practicals, mid-year exams, and trial exams — follows the CAPS assessment guidelines for each subject.
Trial exams (also called preliminary exams) simulate the final matric exam structure and are usually written in Term 3. They are an important diagnostic tool that shows both the learner and the teaching team where exam technique and content revision are most needed before Grade 12.
Promotion from Grade 11 to Grade 12 depends on the end-of-year result across all seven subjects. Strong Grade 11 marks also build the habit and study rhythm that makes Grade 12 manageable. Wingu tracks your child’s trajectory through the year and flags concerns early.
Daily life
Grade 11 is widely regarded as the most demanding year of school. Wingu’s structured timetable and recorded lessons help learners manage the workload, but expect more frequent and complex assessments than in Grade 10. The Student Success Advisor helps your child build a sustainable study schedule.
Subject teachers provide exam-technique guidance throughout the year, past papers are available on the platform, and the trial exam in Term 3 gives learners a full practice run. Targeted revision sessions are scheduled in the lead-up to major assessments.

Yes. Grade 11 is when university planning begins in earnest. The Student Success Advisor guides learners and parents through APS requirements, application timelines, and the subject-combination implications for specific programmes at South African and international universities.
Subject teachers run additional help sessions, the Student Success Advisor monitors all marks and flags concerns, and the wellness team supports any emotional or motivational challenges. Parents receive regular progress updates and are involved early if any subject is at risk.

Accreditation
Grade 11 results determine promotion to Grade 12. The SBA marks accumulated in Grade 11 do not directly appear on the NSC certificate but they are the foundational scores that qualify your child to sit the final matric exam.
The CAPS promotion requirements specify minimum percentages across all seven subjects. The Wingu academic team communicates these requirements clearly at the start of the year and tracks your child’s standing at each reporting period.
The AS Level is a two-year programme. Switching from CAPS to AS Level mid-stream is complex and the decision should involve the admissions team and the British International academic coordinator before any commitment is made.
